Nicky is a self-taught artist specialising mainly in animal portraiture, in particular dogs, cats and horses, although more recently she has started to introduce a selection of wildlife paintings and botanical illustrations. The level of intricate detail in her work reflects the great love and keen observation she has of the animals and plants around her, and the many hours spent studying and sketching them.

As an animal artist, Nicky's particular skill for working in minute detail lends itself well to pet portraits and animal art.  Her paintings of animals are produced in acrylic, using very fine brushes to incorporate the intricate fur detail.  She also occasionally uses watercolour and coloured pencils for her botanical studies.  Some of her miniature artwork is painted on raw silk.

As well as exhibiting her work at various art exhibitions and galleries, including Oxfordshire Artweeks and the Kennel Club in Piccadilly, Nicky accepts commissions on a regular basis, mainly through her successful website, www.faithfulfriendsortraits.co.uk, with many clients returning to add to their collection of portraits of their beloved pets. 

Nicky works from her studio at home which enables her to concentrate on her painting full-time.  She works from photographs that her clients have provided or, where possible, she will take her own digital images in order to capture the right pose and detail required to produce the perfect portrait.

Nicky lives in Oxfordshire with her husband and two cats.
